Our Social Impact

At Bushra Microfinance, our mission goes beyond providing loans—we empower Somali women, youth, and farmers to build sustainable livelihoods and transform their communitie

Over 55% of our clients are women who use Bushra’s support to launch and grow businesses in agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and trade—breaking barriers and building stronger voices in their communities.

Our loans have supported the creation of 500+ jobs across Somalia, powering family-run farms, shops, and enterprises that provide income and stability.

Through agricultural loans, we finance farmers with seeds, irrigation, and livestock care, ensuring increased yields and improved food availability in local markets.

Our resilience loans help families recover from droughts and floods, enabling them to restock livestock and adopt climate-smart practices.

Beyond financing, Bushra equips clients with financial literacy training. So far, 100+ women and youth have benefited from these programs, learning to manage loans responsibly and plan investments.

Collaborations with UNICEF, CARE, BINA, and SIDA enable us to scale impact, reach more communities, and expand innovative financial products.

Bushra provides targeted financing and training programs for young entrepreneurs, enabling them to start small businesses and access sustainable income opportunities. This reduces unemployment and migration pressures while building the next generation of Somali business leaders.

By offering school-fee loans and supporting families with stable incomes, Bushra indirectly improves access to education. More children, especially girls, are able to attend school consistently, creating a ripple effect for long-term community development.

Through group lending models such as Ayuto, Bushra fosters collective responsibility and strengthens community bonds. Women and youth groups support one another, share knowledge, and create a culture of financial inclusion rooted in solidarity.
